The Land of A Thousand Hills

Rwanda, Meet the Silverback Gorillas

It’s a mountainous terrain with plateaus, marshes, and amazing wildlife. Magnificent volcanic peaks divide the country's northern region, which is tucked away between the borders of Burundi, Uganda, Tanzania, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Rwanda is home to one-third of Africa's endangered mountain gorillas, while Nyungwe National Park, one of the world's largest mountain forests, is home to other primate species like chimpanzees.
You can also see what a clean world looks like because Rwanda is considered the cleanest country in Africa, with excellent waste management and environmental conservation programs. The air is so fresh that a stroll in Kigali leaves you gasping for more air due the freshness of the environment.

The Weather

Rwanda is a well-liked travel destination all year round because it is only two degrees south of the equator. The dry season, which runs from June to September, is generally the ideal time of year to visit. The days are pleasant, the nights are clear, and there is very little rainfall during this time.
During the rainy season, it rains a lot most days, with the odd exception of sunny days. Hiking is an adventure during the rainy season, and gorilla trekking is possible throughout the year. Tracking these amazing creatures is usually most popular during the driest months.

Nyungwe National Park

Nyungwe National Park is home to Africa's oldest mountain forest, which offers intriguing diversity. Scientists believe that during the ice age, this region of Africa was home to various wildlife species. The thickly forested mountains of Nyungwe Forest have a long history and provide a range of environments and experiences. The national park, which is situated in Rwanda's southwest, is home to 400 different species of chimpanzees and has one of the few canoded walks in East Africa. The walk, which is about 200 meters long, provides a wonderful opportunity to gaze at the forest's surface or just the beautiful trees nearby. More than 280 different species of birds can be found, and there are many hiking trails for the serious birdwatcher. Red-collar babbling, the grauer marsh warbler, and the Madagascar pond heron are among the endangered species.

Nyiragongo Mountain and Akagera Nationa Park

Akagera National Park is at the forefront of a lion relocation project and is experiencing great success due to its unadulterated biodiversity and conservation efforts. The warm smiles of the Rwandan people contrast with the breathtaking mountain peaks of Mount Nyiragongo, Africa's most active volcano.
